## Public money and ministerial transparency

- [IPSA annual budgets, costs and claims](https://www.theipsa.org.uk/mp-staffing-business-costs/annual-publications) — final annual totals and provisional individual claims.
- [GOV.UK ministers](https://www.gov.uk/government/ministers) — formal ministerial appointments and portfolios.
- [UK Parliament Shadow Cabinet](https://members.parliament.uk/opposition/cabinet) — current senior posts held by His Majesty's Official Opposition.
- [Ministerial transparency publications](https://www.gov.uk/government/collections/ministers-transparency-publications) — quarterly meetings, gifts, hospitality and overseas travel.

For the United States, current chamber and party leadership comes from the [Office of the Clerk's House leadership directory](https://clerk.house.gov/Members/ViewLeadership) and the [Senate leadership directory](https://www.senate.gov/senators/leadership.htm). House committee leadership comes from the Clerk's [Member Data XML](https://clerk.house.gov/xml/lists/MemberData.xml); Senate committee chairs come from the [official committee list](https://www.senate.gov/committees/). These labels provide context beside a name and are excluded from every rank calculation.

### Expense-source treatment

Final IPSA annual publications are the source for numbered total, staffing and office-cost leagues. Travel, accommodation and budget-use figures come from the same final publications but are shown only as qualified comparisons because geography, eligibility and operating circumstances differ. Heterogeneous or sparse other-cost records are provided without ranks.

The five final-year views also reproduce the publishable claim rows that IPSA categorises as **Miscellaneous**, grouped under the annual **Other** figure. Each item retains its official date, claim number, cost type, description and paid, repaid or not-paid status. The display nets repayments from paid amounts and shows the difference from IPSA's authoritative annual Other total. A difference is never allocated to a guessed category: IPSA explains that some claim details are withheld for security or data protection and that accruals or prepayments can appear in a neighbouring publication year.

The current historical comparison cohort is narrower than the IPSA publication: it contains continuously covered MPs in CivicLedger's current or returned-member directory, not every former MP in an annual IPSA file. Each view must publish that limitation and its cohort count. Individual-claim releases for 2025–26 and 2026–27 are provisional, may be revised or supplemented, and are available only as searchable records without ranks.

## Standards

- [Parliamentary Commissioner for Standards](https://www.parliament.uk/mps-lords-and-offices/standards-and-financial-interests/parliamentary-commissioner-for-standards/complaints-and-investigations/) — open investigations, rectifications and decisions.
- [Committee on Standards publications](https://committees.parliament.uk/committee/290/committee-on-standards/publications/) — reports and recommended sanctions.
- [Independent Expert Panel reports](https://www.parliament.uk/mps-lords-and-offices/standards-and-financial-interests/independent-expert-panel/reports/) — final reports under the Independent Complaints and Grievance Scheme.

## Deliberately excluded sources

Social media, press coverage and unsourced allegations do not determine values. No complete official dataset exists for constituency casework, surgeries, ordinary meetings or local events, so CivicLedger does not rank them. Wikipedia and Grokipedia are linked only as third-party background.

Prime Minister's Questions is also excluded from cross-MP ordering in this snapshot. The official records remain valid, but party-leader and office-based allocations make the opportunities unlike; source accuracy does not by itself make a league fair.

Each figure describes a specific published record. Roles, opportunities and work outside Parliament or Congress also matter.
