# Corrections and challenges **Applies to:** politicians.compare and its downloadable publication artefacts **Publisher:** DoubleTick Solutions Ltd **Effective:** 3 September 2026 Accuracy is more important than preserving a position in a table. Readers, politicians, staff, researchers and publishers can challenge an identity, cohort decision, date, source, value, rank, contextual label or description of the method. ## Send a correction Email [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]?subject=politicians.compare%20correction) with “politicians.compare correction” in the subject line. Please include: 1. the politician or office and, where available, the profile URL or official identifier; 2. the exact field, date, value or wording in dispute; 3. why it appears inaccurate, incomplete or out of date; 4. the strongest available primary source; and 5. the change requested and any reason for urgency. The in-product correction tool prepares this information as a structured packet on the reader's device. It does not transmit the packet automatically. ## Our response standard - We aim to acknowledge a complete request within two working days. - A credible risk involving identity, active legal proceedings, safety, an election or a materially false league value is triaged as soon as practicable and normally within 24 hours. - We aim to issue a reasoned outcome within ten working days. Complex source disputes may take longer; the requester will receive an update. - Affected material may be labelled, held or withdrawn while a material issue is checked. ## How decisions are made We re-check the frozen source, official identifier, cohort rule and deterministic calculation. We also test similarly situated records for a systemic error. Outcomes are: correction, clarification, supersession, temporary hold, withdrawal, or no change with reasons. A verified value-bearing error triggers a complete rebuild. We do not hand-edit one politician's rank. Updated values, ties, exports, share pages and citations are released together. Earlier dated snapshots remain identifiable so a citation never changes silently. Material published corrections are listed in the [correction log](/legal/correction-log). Minor typography changes that do not alter meaning are normally omitted. ## Independence No politician, party, campaign, advertiser, donor, media partner or paying user can buy inclusion, exclusion, a preferred value, or a correction outcome. Evidence and the published method decide the result. ## Complaints about personal data Privacy and data-rights requests use the same monitored address and are handled under the [privacy notice](/legal/privacy).
